Pendrak Death, Obituary – Albin J. “Bud” Pendrak, a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many, peacefully departed on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on March 18, 1944, in Saratoga Springs, NY, to Albert and Mary Pendrak, Bud’s journey was one of unwavering service, dedication, and passion.
A graduate of Schuylerville High School’s class of 1962, Bud’s commitment to education continued with his graduation from Adirondack Community College in 1996. His sense of duty extended beyond the classroom, as he proudly served his nation during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. With a career spanning 23 years, Bud’s professionalism and dedication shone as he served as a staff administrative assistant to the commander, leaving a legacy upon his retirement in 1988.
Bud’s life was enriched by his love for woodworking, a craft he masterfully honed for over five decades. His involvement with the Schuyler Hose Company persisted throughout his life, and he also contributed as a fire investigator for the Saratoga County cause and origin team. Beyond his professional roles, Bud actively participated in various community organizations, including the Old Saratoga American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Lions Club, reflecting his commitment to service.
On May 24, 1969, Bud united in marriage with Sharlene Pendrak, his lifelong partner and love. Together, they were blessed with two children, Pam and Jay. Bud’s selflessness extended to his family and community alike, as he generously shared his wisdom and positivity with all he encountered.
Bud’s legacy lives on through his surviving family: his devoted wife Sharlene, his daughter Pam (Keith Harney) Pendrak of Apex, NC, his son Jay Pendrak of Schuylerville, and his cherished grandchildren Isaiah and Alysa Harney of NC. He is also remembered by his sisters Joy (Lee) Bandy of Morgantown, PA, and Penny (Bill) Durrin of Argyle, along with many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor Bud’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home. The interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the funeral home. Contributions in Bud’s memory can be made to the Schuyler Hose Company, Saratoga National Honor Guard Association, and Wilton Rescue Squad.
