Aleta Reid Death, Obituary – It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Aleta Reid, who peacefully departed on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the remarkable age of 103. Her journey through life was a tapestry woven with dedication to our Historical Society and a love for our community. In her vibrant years, Aleta played a pivotal role as an officer in our Historical Society, dedicating herself to preserving and sharing our heritage. She held the distinction of being our longest-standing dues paying member, finding joy in immersing herself in the stories we shared through our newsletters and calendar.
This year, Aleta’s commitment to honoring her family’s legacy shone brightly as she sponsored three military tribute banners, a poignant tribute to her father and two brothers. These banners, a testament to her reverence for their service, will be on display during her memorial service.
A visitation to remember and honor Aleta’s life will be held at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. On Monday, August 14, 2023, a memorial service will take place, commencing at 10:00 am, also at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, located at 64 Ashford Avenue in Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522, will serve as the setting for these heartfelt gatherings. The journey will continue with a final farewell at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
