Chris Potter Death, Obituary – It is with profound sorrow that I convey the heartbreaking news of the passing of my beloved husband, Chris Potter OBE. He held the esteemed position of Headmaster at OSH from 1978 to 2001. With heavy hearts, we received the news that he departed from us on August 23rd, in the cherished embrace of his Crete home. Though his passing was unexpected, we draw comfort from the fact that he was living life to the fullest, even at the remarkable age of almost 84.
Chris was a man who embraced life with vigor, and his favorite motto, borrowed from the poet Horace, encapsulated his spirit: ‘Carpe Diem’ – seize the day. His zest for life was evident in every facet of his being, and he was a living testament to the power of embracing each moment.
As I attempt to put my feelings into words, I find myself at a loss. The void left by his absence is immeasurable, and the world has lost not only a remarkable individual but also one of its most captivating storytellers. Chris had a unique gift for spinning tales that enraptured his audience, and his absence will be felt profoundly by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In the coming days, we will be coordinating a memorial service in the U.K. to honor his memory and celebrate the life he lived so vibrantly. Further details regarding the service will be shared through this group, so those of you who wish to pay your respects can join us in commemorating the incredible journey that was Chris’s life.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, let us remember the spirit of Carpe Diem that Chris embodied. May his legacy inspire us to live each day to the fullest, just as he did, and may his memory forever be a guiding light in our lives.
