David Watson Car Accident, Death – In the unincorporated portion of Bartow on Friday evening, officers from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) responded to an accident that had resulted in the death of a person close to 3655 North United States Highway 17. David Watson, 18, from Winter Haven, Florida, was driving a white 2004 GMC Canyon southbound on U.S. 17 in the outside lane when he ran into the grass median while attempting to pass another vehicle. He was traveling in the opposite direction of the other vehicle. At the scene, it was determined that David Watson had passed away.
As a result of Watson’s inability to keep control of the car, he collided with a black Dodge 3500 that was being driven by James Shaw, who was from Orlando. As a direct consequence of the incident, Watson was ejected from his vehicle. According to the official accounts provided by the police, Watson was taken to a nearby hospital after the incident, and it was there that he ultimately lost his life.
During the time of the crash, Watson was not wearing his seat belt, according to the report made by the PCSO.
Shaw was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for the relatively minor injuries he had sustained, and he was eventually released from the facility. In addition, his passenger did not receive any injuries as a result of the accident.
