Dean Hardy Obituary, Death – To paraphrase the words of the Chief Financial Officer, Ben Ansell: “I am sorry to report that one of our coworkers passed away unexpectedly.” I’m sorry to tell you this on behalf of his family, but I can confirm that this information is accurate. On August 18, 2018, Firefighter Dean Hardy, who was assigned to the Amesbury fire station, passed away unexpectedly at his home. His passing occurred on a Friday. When I say that this news has left all of us in the Service dumbfounded and heartbroken, I am speaking on behalf of the whole military branch when I say that our thoughts and our most heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones.
When I say that this news has left all of us in the Service speechless and grieved, I am speaking on behalf of the entire military branch. Dean joined the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service in March 2023. During his time there, he earned a strong reputation for his dedication and was held in great regard by his colleagues. Because his most recent position was working as a firefighter for the Department of Defense, he brought with him a significant amount of experience from his prior employment. The Union flag, which is the Service standard at SHQ,
will be flown at half-mast throughout all of our facilities beginning at 8:00 on Sunday, August 20, and continuing until 8:00 on Thursday, August 24 (the day following Amesbury’s weekly drill night), at which time it will be raised to its full height. This will begin on Sunday, August 20, and continue until the day after Amesbury’s weekly drill night. This will be done as a mark of respect and in commemoration of those who served their country in the armed forces. The Dean family has decided that this particular photograph of him is their favorite in his collection.
