Ernest C. Cook Death, Obituary – Ernest C. Cook, age 58, left us unexpectedly on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Born in Grand Rapids on February 4, 1965, he was the son of the late Sidney and Evelyn (Dexter) Oates. Ernest was a graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School, and throughout his life, he demonstrated a zest for creativity and a passion for the culinary arts.
Cooking was his true passion, and he found joy in experimenting with various ingredients to craft unique and delicious dishes. His kitchen was a canvas, and his culinary creations were a testament to his love for the art of cooking. Beyond his culinary talents, Ernest was a devout Christian who found solace and community in attending different local churches.
Ernest’s interests extended beyond the kitchen. He was a sports enthusiast and particularly enjoyed playing basketball and spending time at the pool table. However, it was his loving and caring nature that truly set him apart. He had a remarkable ability to stay connected with his family, ensuring that his role as a big brother extended beyond just familial ties.
Ernest is survived by his three beloved siblings: Eugene Cook, Evelyn Nieves, and Sidney (April) Oates. He also leaves behind numerous cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who were touched by his presence and warmth.
Cremation arrangements have been made, and Ernest’s final resting place will be at the Martiny Township Cemetery in Rodney. To honor his memory, memorial contributions can be made in his name to Our Brother’s Keeper Shelter, a testament to his compassionate and caring nature.
