Hannah Mumme Death, Obituary – Hannah Mumme, who was 84 years old and had previously lived in Houston, Texas, went to be with her Savior on November 3, 2012, at Windsor Park Manor, which is located in Carol Stream, Illinois. She was the daughter of Joseph Murray and Dorothy Ewan and was born on November 2nd, 1928 in Alton, Illinois. Her parents’ names were Joseph and Dorothy. She received her high school diploma from Austin High School in Houston in 1945 and her nursing degree from the Lilly Jolly School of Nursing at Memorial Hospital in 1948.
On October 11, 1947, she made her commitment to spend the rest of her life with Robert T. Mumme, Jr. in Houston. Hannah was well-known for her radiant smile, uplifting singing, gentle and kind nature, and healing touch. She had eight children, all of whom she adored, and she did everything she could to inspire and uplift them. Hannah was devoted to her Lord Jesus and eagerly awaited his return. She was a pioneer girls club leader and a camp nurse for many years, in addition to being an active member of the Minnetex Community Church in Houston, where she was quite involved.
She had a career as a Registered Nurse for more than fifty years and also worked as a professional midwife, during which time she delivered more than two hundred infants. They relocated to the Windsor Park Manor retirement community in Illinois after selling the house they had in Texas in 2004. Prior to that, they had lived in Texas. As her cognitive faculties decreased as a result of Alzheimer’s disease, her devoted husband, Robert, dutifully cared for her.
His unwavering love and commitment served as an illustrative model for everyone. I couldn’t stop thinking about the day, sixty-five years ago, when we said that we were going to remain together through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, because there was nothing else to do.
