The 78-year-old actress was best known for her role as Walnut Grove schoolteacher Alice Garvey on television. She passed away on Wednesday at the residence that she shared with her son Jonathan Peverall in Norfolk, Virginia. The tragic information was confirmed by Peverall to The Hollywood Reporter. The former athlete had been undergoing treatment for a brain tumor for some years, and a GoFundMe page had been established to assist with the financial burden of the ongoing treatment.
In a message that was uploaded to the account at the beginning of this year, Peverall disclosed the fact that his mother had been battling meningioma for some time. After seeing that his mother’s condition had deteriorated even worse, he stated in the letter that he had brought her to live with him in Virginia from her previous apartment in the Los Angeles region. Later, in late July, he provided an update on his mother’s health, in which he said that she had undergone a’successful’ operation to reduce the effects of her malignancy. He also shared this information with his followers.
However, the performer acquired pneumonia while she was in the process of recovering, and she was consequently had to go back to the hospital, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit and stayed on a ventilator even after she lost consciousness.
