Nancy Carter Death, Obituary – Nancy Carter, aged 80, of Hodgenville, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Baptist Health Hardin. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Nancy dedicated much of her life to her work and community, retiring from Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.
Nancy was a loving wife to her late husband, James Carter, and a devoted daughter to her parents, Albert and Christine Montgomery Bishop. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Bishop and Gary Melton, who shared many memories with her.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Lisa Grant of Hodgenville and Willa Dean Serrano of Brandenburg, as well as her three sons, Ricky Carter, Tommy Melton, and Gerald Melton, all of Hodgenville. Her brother, Billy Bishop of Hodgenville, remains to remember her fondly. Nancy’s legacy continues through her 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, a testament to the love she shared with her growing family.
Funeral services in honor of Nancy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 25, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Old Mount Sherman Cemetery, where she will join her loved ones. The visitation to pay respects to Nancy will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Nancy’s pallbearers, Justin Carter, Alex Carter, Emily Metcalf, Taylor Melton, Matt Melton, and Jaden Furman, will carry her to her final resting place, serving as a testament to the deep connections she forged in her life. As we remember Nancy, we also support her family during this challenging time, holding them close in our thoughts and prayers.
