Samuel Jackson Obituary, Death – Samuel Hartsfield was the man. Raines Jackson was attending school in Barcelona when he was involved in a terrible accident that took his life on May 18, 2023. Fred Hartsfield and Angela Raines Jackson welcomed their son Sam into the world on March 9, 2003. He was the one true love in their lives, and they cherish the honour of being able to call themselves his parents.
Sam was an incredible example of a human being. He was sympathetic, generous, and concerned for others. He had a calm demeanor and led in a meek and considerate manner. He was a good friend to everyone and had an honest heart. Sam was an active participant in the life of the Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church for six years, during which time he held the positions of Junior Verger, Thurifer, and Acolyte.
Sam’s experience at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas, where he made friends for life and loved being in a Christian environment and where a cross hung in every room, was formative for him as a person. His instructors had genuine concern for him as a person and worked tirelessly to assist him in accomplishing his goals. Sam was the embodiment of the Jesuit order’s motto, “Men for Others.”
Sam was a current student at Texas A&M University in College Station, studying engineering in the honors program. At the conclusion of the summer, he would have had 90 hours, which is the amount of time necessary to place an order for his Aggie ring. His primary concentration was in petroleum engineering, and he also minored in mathematics and Spanish. This coming summer, he intended to submit his application to the Master of Finance program.
Sam had a great time at Camp Ozark. He remained a student for a total of nine years. He had spent the previous summer working as a counselor at Camp Ozark TX (OTX), and he had centered his entire summer around the possibility of returning there this year. He cherished the community’s humble Christian lifestyle and its inhabitants. Sam’s grandfather and grandmother on his father’s side, Fred and Frances Jackson, as well as his uncle, Robert Kirk Owens, passed away before him.
Sam is survived by his parents, his maternal grandparents Jack and Rebecca Raines, his maternal aunt Jennifer Raines Owens, his maternal cousins Payton and Ashton Owens, his maternal paternal aunt and uncle Jennifer and Bill Turner and their children Melissa and Chris, his paternal godfathers Gary Hayden Patterson and Steve Rodgers, his closest friends Luke Szczepanski and Kate Morsbach, and his dog Angel.
