The suspect in a shooting that injured a San Jose police officer was eventually brought into custody after a standoff that lasted several hours, according to police statements released on Wednesday. According to the San Jose Police Department, officers responded to a report of a family dispute in the vicinity of Auzerais Avenue and Race Street just before 8 o’clock in the morning. When the officers approached the front door of a house to speak with the residents, they were met with immediate resistance in the form of gunfire. The wounded female cop was transported to a local hospital, but the authorities did not immediately release any more information regarding her health.
Sgt. Jorge Garibay, a spokesman for the police department, stated that “officers made contact at that residence and immediately began taking fire from a suspect” shortly after the officers’ arrival. “An officer sustained an injury as a result of being shot, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.” At this time, we do not have any new information regarding the officer’s injury.According to Garibay, a crisis intervention team as well as other special units were on the scene and were attempting to make contact with the suspect. Garibay added that the residents of the homes that around the residence had been forced to flee.
At one minute and seventeen seconds past one in the afternoon, the San Jose Police Department announced on social media that the suspect had been detained. On Tuesday morning, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan responded to a report of domestic violence by posting on social media, saying, “I am praying for the swift recovery of our @SanJosePD officer who was shot this morning while responding to a domestic violence call.” She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family during this incomprehensibly trying time.
There was an initial delay in locating and identifying the culprit. It was strongly recommended that people stay away from the region. It was anticipated that the investigators would remain present at the scene for a considerable amount of time.
