Tony West Obituary, Death – Anthony “Tony” West, 45, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at Genesis Healthcare on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 1:22 pm due to an unexpected illness. He generously donated the gift of life by being an organ donor. On June 4th, 1976, he entered the world in Zanesville, Ohio. Tony and Kim started dating in 1994, and they got married on August 10, 1999, at the Bridal Section of Elder Beerman, where Kim’s mother worked as a Bridal Consultant. That’s when their romance started. He adored Kim & her three children and loved them endlessly. The fun really began when he became “PaPo”. Being a “PaPo” gave him the greatest joy. The laughs, lessons, and heaps of love and attention never ended. His babies were his world.
He had an especially close relationship with his Granddaughter, Mireyha “22”. She and “Papo” shared a bond that can never be broken, and included a mutual love for softball. He was her #1 fan. Postal service became his second great passion. Tony was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service starting his career in 1998. His dedication to his mail route, love for his fellow postmen and union brothers never went unnoticed. Tony was also very passionate about the local hunger drive for the Christ Table. He was a committed Michigan fan, loved fantasy football, playing Keno, and had a love for a wide variety of music. He leaves behind many amazing friends, family, and mail route families.
His mother and stepfather, Judy (Walchak) and Mike Rebic; his step-sister, Stephanie (Dan) Bathrick; many Aunts and Uncles, including a very special Aunt, his godmother, Karen Miller; and countless cousins and friends all mourn his passing. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Richard West, and grandparents, Theodore “Buck” and Norma Walchak. The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life to be held Sunday August 1st from 12 noon to 4:00 PM at the VFW Lodge, 1318 Putnam Ave. Zanesville Oh. A private burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery will be held later.
